How to build a BSP GT12-06 Chassis.
To build the kit you will need: .062wire, .032 id and .062 id brass tubing. Building of any slot car chassis requires care. Please ensure that you wear protective eye glasses and only use tools in the recommend way. Soldering should be done in a well ventilated area.
The order I build the chassis is not the only way, but is a method I have come to from building many chassis.
Pictured
below is the Kit. Before assembling, clean up all the slots and cut the pieces
from the main chassis.
Once
you have the main centre section you can start to build up the chassis. Before
you do ensure the chassis is flat, and square. then you can put in the rear
pillow blocks. Ensure they are upright and square also.

Also put in the cross bar. This must be level with the bottom of the chassis.
Next
move to the front and add on the guide plate and spacer. The hole in the centre
is for an axle cut off
and
then the pan stops on each side. Only tack these in at this point. Note the
smaller hoop is on the inside.
The
centre section is finished with the addition of the rails. The rails are .062
wire and they sit in .062id tubing at the rear. Solder the tube first.

This will make sure the wire can move in the tube. The wire should be approximatley
97mm long. Slide it into the tube and solder at the front.

The Centre section is now complete. Move onto the pans.
Put
the 4 pin tube holders into the slots and solder into position.
Then
locate the pans into position and place the pan 'hinges' on top of the pan,
sliding them through the hoops. I like to round off the inside leg first.
This gives smoother pan movement. The hoops maybe a little tight, so ease
the tacked solder joint to allow the leg through. Once you have done this,
solder hoops in place and then solder the pan hinge on to the pan.
Make sure everything is moving smoothly and solder in the pan down stops at the rear. The chassis is now finished. Add pin tubing, and put the oilites at the desired height in the oval holes. Use 2 gears of the same height to check the axle is level.

Now go racing!!
